Five Suspects Arrested After Home Robbery Left F1 Legend Injured

A major breakthrough has been made in the investigation into the violent robbery that left Formula 1 legend Alain Prost injured at his home, with French authorities confirming that five suspects have now been arrested more than a month after the shocking attack.
The incident, which sent shockwaves through the motorsport community, took place in May when masked intruders forced their way into Prost’s home in Nyon, Switzerland, while the four-time Formula 1 world champion and his family were inside.
According to investigators, the 71-year-old French racing icon suffered a head injury during the terrifying ordeal as the attackers threatened members of his family. The intruders reportedly forced Prost’s son to open the family’s safe before escaping with a number of valuable possessions, including several luxury watches.
The robbery prompted an extensive cross-border investigation involving both Swiss and French authorities, who immediately launched a large-scale operation to identify those responsible.
Officials from the Vaud Cantonal Police confirmed at the time that numerous specialist units were deployed following the incident. The operation included local police patrols, forensic investigators, canine teams, psychological support personnel, customs officers and members of the French Gendarmerie as investigators worked to track down the suspects.
Their efforts have now resulted in a significant development.
Authorities in Pontoise, near Paris, have confirmed that five suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the robbery. The individuals are reportedly between the ages of 16 and 22.
According to prosecutors, the group faces a number of serious allegations, including theft, kidnapping, false imprisonment and participation in a criminal organisation. Two of those arrested are minors, while the remaining suspects continue to be held as the investigation progresses.
The arrests represent the first major breakthrough since the violent attack and offer hope that the lengthy investigation is beginning to produce results.
Reports from local media also suggest that the attack on Prost was not an isolated case.
Investigators believe similar crimes have become increasingly common across French-speaking Switzerland, particularly in affluent areas surrounding Lake Geneva. Criminal gangs are said to have been targeting luxury homes known to contain expensive watch collections and other high-value items.
Industry experts have warned that so-called “homejackings” have risen sharply in recent years, with approximately 18 similar cases reportedly recorded during 2025 alone. Many of these incidents are believed to involve organised criminal groups carrying out carefully planned raids on wealthy homeowners.
The attack on Prost therefore highlights a broader security concern affecting the region rather than an isolated crime against a famous sporting figure.
Fortunately, despite suffering a head wound during the robbery, Prost was not reported to have sustained life-threatening injuries, although the traumatic experience understandably had a significant impact on the entire family.
Prost remains one of the greatest drivers in Formula 1 history.
During a glittering career spanning the 1980s and early 1990s, the Frenchman won four Formula 1 World Championships and established himself as one of the sport’s most intelligent and tactically gifted competitors.
Known throughout the paddock as “The Professor” because of his calm, analytical driving style, Prost built his success through consistency, race management and strategic brilliance rather than outright aggression.
His achievements included holding Formula 1’s all-time record for race victories for 14 years before Michael Schumacher eventually surpassed his tally in 2001.
Beyond his remarkable statistics, Prost is perhaps best remembered for his legendary rivalry with Ayrton Senna, one of the fiercest and most iconic battles in sporting history.
The pair famously clashed while driving for McLaren, with tensions escalating to dramatic championship-deciding collisions in consecutive seasons. Prost secured the 1989 world title after a controversial collision with Senna at Suzuka, while the Brazilian gained revenge one year later following another infamous first-corner crash that handed him the 1990 championship.
Those unforgettable moments remain among the defining chapters in Formula 1 history and helped cement both drivers’ legendary status.
While Prost’s achievements on the circuit continue to inspire generations of racing fans, the recent robbery served as a stark reminder that even sporting icons are not immune to violent crime.
