Max Verstappen has grown increasingly frustrated with Formula 1’s new regulations after several of his concerns about the 2026 cars appeared to become reality. The four-time world champion has repeatedly questioned the direction of the sport, particularly the new power-unit rules and the way energy management has influenced racing.

The 2026 season introduced a major technical overhaul, combining new aerodynamic regulations with redesigned power units. The engines now place much greater emphasis on electrical power, creating a roughly equal split between electric energy and the internal-combustion engine.
