The FIA has confirmed a series of penalties following a dramatic Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, with three drivers receiving time penalties for separate incidents during the race.
According to the FIA’s provisional race classification, Franco Colapinto, Liam Lawson and Carlos Sainz were all handed 10-second penalties.
Colapinto was penalised twice during the race. The Alpine driver received a drive-through penalty, converted to a 10-second time penalty in the classification, for failing to slow sufficiently for a yellow flag. He was also investigated for overtaking Yuki Tsunoda under double yellow flags, with the stewards awarding penalty points.
Red Bull’s Liam Lawson was also handed a 10-second time penalty for failing to slow for yellow flags, while Williams driver Carlos Sainz received a 10-second penalty for causing a collision. The FIA confirmed that all three penalties were applied to the official race classification.
Despite the late punishments, the top positions remained unchanged, with Lando Norris winning the Dutch Grand Prix ahead of Mercedes pair Kimi Antonelli and George Russell. Lewis Hamilton finished fourth for Ferrari.
The Dutch Grand Prix also produced major drama earlier in the race when Max Verstappen crashed out on the opening lap, bringing out a race stoppage before the event was restarted.
The FIA’s decisions mean the official classification now reflects the penalties imposed after the incidents, with no post-race disqualification of any classified driver confirmed in the FIA results reviewed.
