Following the Hungarian Grand Prix, Kimi Antonelli has increased his advantage at the top of the 2026 Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship, opening up a 50-point lead over Lewis Hamilton.
The Mercedes driver produced an impressive comeback from seventh on the grid, using a well-executed long first stint and fresher tyres late in the race to secure a podium finish in third.
Hamilton’s afternoon ended in disappointment. The Ferrari veteran crossed the line in fourth but was relegated to fifth after serving a five-second time penalty, reducing his championship haul. George Russell also lost valuable ground in the title race after finishing sixth.
Mercedes continue to dominate the Constructors’ Championship, maintaining a healthy cushion over their rivals after another strong weekend.
