Martin Brundle was absent from Sky Sports’ Formula 1 coverage of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, leaving fans without one of the broadcaster’s most recognisable voices during the weekend.
The absence was not linked to illness, injury or a disciplinary issue. Brundle is working under a reduced Sky Sports schedule for the 2026 season and is expected to cover 16 of the 22 Grands Prix this year.
His Dutch Grand Prix absence therefore forms part of a planned rotation rather than an unexpected withdrawal. Several other familiar Sky F1 figures were also missing from the Dutch GP coverage as the broadcaster adjusted its presenting and commentary line-up for the weekend.
Brundle has continued to remain part of Sky Sports’ F1 team despite his lighter schedule, with the former Formula 1 driver expected to return for selected races throughout the remainder of the season.
The decision means fans will see Brundle less frequently in 2026, but his reduced workload is understood to be part of an agreed broadcasting schedule rather than a sign that he is leaving Formula 1 coverage.
