Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli has confirmed that he will serve a grid penalty at his home Italian Grand Prix in Monza on September 6.

The 19-year-old championship leader and team-mate George Russell are both approaching the limit for the number of power unit components allowed during the F1 season. With Mercedes facing an inevitable penalty, Antonelli has revealed that the team has chosen Monza as the venue to take the punishment.

Although starting further down the grid at his home race is far from ideal, Antonelli believes Monza provides the best opportunity to recover lost positions during the race.
