Christian Horner to Tell All About His Dramatic 20-Year Reign as Team Principal of F1 Giants Red Bull
Christian Horner is preparing to open up about one of the most remarkable and controversial periods in modern Formula 1, as the former Red Bull team principal gets ready to share his version of events from two decades at the helm of the team.
Horner’s 20-year tenure at Red Bull came to an abrupt end in July 2025, when the team removed him from his roles as team principal and chief executive. His departure ended a remarkable chapter that began when Red Bull entered Formula 1 in 2005.
Now, more than a year after leaving the organisation, Horner is preparing to revisit the highs, lows, rivalries and major turning points of his career through a new memoir titled Drive. The book is scheduled for release in October 2026 and is expected to provide his perspective on the events that shaped both his career and Red Bull’s rise to the top of Formula 1.
Horner arrived at Red Bull as a relatively young team boss when the energy-drink-backed organisation entered the sport. Over the following years, he helped transform the team from a midfield operation into one of Formula 1’s dominant forces.
The first major period of success came between 2010 and 2013, when Sebastian Vettel captured four consecutive Drivers’ Championships. Red Bull also secured four straight Constructors’ Championships during that remarkable run.
The team eventually experienced another dominant era after Max Verstappen emerged as its leading driver. Verstappen won four consecutive Drivers’ Championships from 2021 through 2024, while Red Bull added further Constructors’ titles to its record.
Across Horner’s leadership, Red Bull accumulated eight Drivers’ Championships, six Constructors’ Championships and 124 Grand Prix victories. Those achievements established Horner as one of the longest-serving and most successful team principals in the history of the sport.
However, his time at Red Bull was not defined solely by trophies. The final years of his tenure were filled with intense scrutiny, internal tensions and major changes within the organisation. Red Bull also faced significant challenges as key figures departed and its competitive advantage began to weaken.
Horner’s exit therefore brought an unexpected conclusion to a career that had been closely connected with Red Bull since the team’s arrival in Formula 1.
His upcoming memoir promises to revisit that journey from his own perspective, including the pressures of managing an elite sporting organisation, the political battles within the F1 paddock and the decisions that helped shape Red Bull’s success.
Horner is also taking his story beyond the pages of the book. He has announced a UK speaking tour featuring appearances in Nottingham, Bath, Glasgow, York and London, where he plans to discuss his career and participate in live question-and-answer sessions.
For Formula 1 followers, the timing makes the project particularly intriguing. Horner left Red Bull after two decades at the centre of some of the sport’s biggest battles, and his return to public discussion could offer fresh insight into an era filled with championship triumphs, fierce rivalries and dramatic changes.
With Drive approaching its release, attention will now turn to exactly what Horner chooses to reveal about his extraordinary journey.
After spending 20 years leading Red Bull, the former team boss is finally getting the opportunity to tell the story in his own words—and F1 fans will be watching closely to see whether his account changes the way some of the most dramatic chapters of his career are remembered.
