Ferrari Gives Lewis Hamilton a “Monster” Upgrade to Take the Fight to Mercedes
Ferrari appears ready to give Lewis Hamilton a major weapon for the second half of the 2026 Formula 1 season, with the team preparing significant upgrades aimed at closing the gap to dominant Mercedes.
The development push reportedly includes changes to Ferrari’s floor and power unit, with the upgrades designed to improve aerodynamic performance and increase power at the end of straights. The timing could be crucial as Hamilton enters the second half of the championship still firmly in the title fight.
Hamilton has already demonstrated that he can challenge Mercedes when Ferrari gives him a competitive package. His victory in Barcelona was particularly significant, becoming his first Grand Prix win for Ferrari and moving him closer to Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli in the championship battle.
Ferrari’s latest development programme therefore represents more than simply another upgrade. It could become a key part of Hamilton’s attempt to fight Mercedes for the 2026 crown.
However, Ferrari will have to respond quickly. Mercedes is also preparing a “more sizeable” upgrade for the return to racing at the Dutch Grand Prix, meaning Hamilton and Ferrari could immediately face an upgraded Silver Arrows package at Zandvoort.
