Formula 1 fans will see a major change to the Red Bull driver line-up at this weekend’s Dutch Grand Prix, with Isack Hadjar ruled out after suffering a wrist injury during the summer break.
The development means Hadjar will miss the Zandvoort race, with Red Bull confirming that Liam Lawson will step into his seat. Yuki Tsunoda will meanwhile return to Racing Bulls alongside rookie Arvid Lindblad.
The absence comes at an unfortunate time for Hadjar, who has been enjoying a strong season alongside Max Verstappen. The French driver currently sits eighth in the championship standings and had been expected to play an important role for Red Bull during the second half of the campaign.
Martin Brundle has been among the prominent F1 voices discussing the latest development as the sport prepares to return from its summer break. The former Formula 1 driver and Sky Sports F1 analyst has closely followed Hadjar’s progress and Red Bull’s management of its driver line-up.
Lawson’s return to Red Bull adds another layer of intrigue to the Dutch weekend. The New Zealander previously raced for the senior Red Bull team before returning to Racing Bulls and will now get another opportunity to demonstrate his potential in a competitive car.
The Dutch Grand Prix will therefore mark an unusual weekend for Red Bull, with Hadjar watching from the sidelines while Lawson takes over his RB seat. Meanwhile, Tsunoda’s return to Racing Bulls gives the Japanese driver another chance to prove himself on the Formula 1 grid.
Hadjar’s recovery will now be the priority, with Red Bull hoping its young star can return to full fitness as soon as possible. The team has wished him a speedy recovery, while Lawson and Tsunoda prepare for an unexpected opportunity at Zandvoort.
