JUST IN: F1 STAR IS SET TO LOSE HIS JOB AS FERRARI
Ferrari has been plunged into another wave of speculation over its future, with fresh reports suggesting that a major change could be coming at the top of the team as the growing controversy surrounding Lewis Hamilton continues to dominate the headlines.
The latest attention is focused on Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur, whose position has increasingly come under scrutiny following a difficult run of results, strategy controversies and growing tension around the Scuderia.
Reports emerging from Italy suggest Ferrari have begun considering potential alternatives for Vasseur, with former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner among the names being discussed in the wider speculation. However, there is currently no official confirmation that Ferrari has decided to remove Vasseur.
The story comes at an especially sensitive time for Ferrari, with the team struggling to convert its potential into consistent results during the 2026 campaign.
Vasseur has faced questions over several decisions involving Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, particularly after a series of incidents and strategy frustrations that have placed additional pressure on Ferrari’s management.
Hamilton’s difficult spell has only intensified the scrutiny.
The seven-time world champion has endured several frustrating weekends, including disappointment at Monza and an early retirement in Madrid. At Monza, Hamilton also called for clearer “rules of engagement” after his opening-lap clash with Leclerc, with the Ferrari driver later accepting responsibility for the incident.
There have also been reports claiming Hamilton wanted changes within Ferrari’s trackside operation.
Hamilton, however, strongly rejected that suggestion.
The Ferrari driver stated that he had never asked for anyone on his team to be replaced, while praising the dedication of the personnel working around him. That clarification is significant because it separates Hamilton’s publicly stated position from some of the speculation surrounding Ferrari’s internal situation.
Despite that, pressure on Vasseur has continued.
Italian media reports have recently suggested that Hamilton’s relationship with the Ferrari boss has become a subject of discussion, while other reports have questioned whether Ferrari should consider a change in leadership following its recent difficulties. One recent report specifically claimed Ferrari was looking at a possible successor for Vasseur, although it stressed that there was no guarantee Horner would be the man chosen.
Horner’s name has naturally attracted attention because of his previous success at Red Bull and his availability after leaving the team.
But Ferrari has moved to push back against the speculation.
Reuters reported on Tuesday that Ferrari issued a strong statement of support for Vasseur, with the team’s communications chief Maria Conti stressing that the Scuderia has full confidence in its team principal. The comments came amid renewed rumours that Horner could replace him.
That leaves Ferrari’s situation in an intriguing position.
On one side, reports continue to suggest that Vasseur’s future is being discussed. On the other, Ferrari’s official position is that it continues to back him.
And the Lewis Hamilton factor makes the situation even more interesting.
Vasseur was instrumental in bringing Hamilton to Ferrari, and in July he publicly confirmed that the seven-time champion would remain with the team for 2027. That means the current speculation should not automatically be interpreted as evidence that Hamilton is preparing to leave Ferrari or that Ferrari has already selected his replacement.
There is, however, another layer to the story.
Charles Leclerc has also been linked with speculation about his long-term Ferrari future, despite having recently agreed a new multi-year deal with the Scuderia. Formula 1’s official website reported that Leclerc said his belief in Vasseur was a major reason behind his decision to extend his Ferrari commitment.
That could make any leadership change particularly significant.
For now, the strongest confirmed development is that Ferrari is publicly standing behind Vasseur, while reports about a potential replacement remain just that — reports.
Nevertheless, with Ferrari’s 2026 season under increasing scrutiny and the Hamilton-Vasseur relationship becoming a major talking point in the Italian media, the pressure surrounding Maranello is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
If Ferrari ultimately decides that a new direction is required, Vasseur could find himself at the centre of one of the biggest F1 leadership stories of the season.
And with Lewis Hamilton’s future at Ferrari already generating headlines, any change at the top could have major consequences for the team’s plans heading into 2027.
