F1 Standings 2026: Amended Latest Points Leaders After Monaco Grand Prix Result Changed AGAIN

The Formula 1 championship standings have been reshuffled once again following another dramatic change to the final classification of the Monaco Grand Prix.

More than three months after the race in Monte Carlo, the FIA International Court of Appeal has ruled that Pierre Gasly’s two five-second penalties for pit-lane speeding should stand. The decision overturns the earlier ruling that had restored Gasly to third place and gives Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar his Monaco podium finish back.

Gasly had originally crossed the line in third, but penalties dropped him to seventh. Alpine subsequently challenged the sanctions after evidence emerged concerning an error in the pit-lane timing system. The penalties were initially removed, allowing Gasly to return to the podium.

However, McLaren and Red Bull later appealed that decision. After a hearing in Paris, the FIA court concluded that the original penalties should be reinstated. Gasly therefore loses the nine points associated with his third-place finish and returns to seventh in the official classification.

The ruling has also benefited several other drivers. Hadjar moves back to third, while Oscar Piastri, Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad each gain one position from the amended Monaco result. The decision also means Alpine loses nine points in the constructors’ championship.

Despite the controversy surrounding the Monaco result, Kimi Antonelli remains firmly in control of the drivers’ championship. The Mercedes youngster leads the standings on 242 points, with teammate George Russell and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton both on 183 points.

Lando Norris sits fourth on 159 points, followed by Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc on 155. The standings underline just how competitive the championship has become, with Mercedes continuing to hold a substantial advantage in the constructors’ battle.

The latest adjustment does not change the identity of the championship leader, but it demonstrates how decisions made long after a race can still have an impact on the title fight.

Mercedes currently leads the constructors’ standings with 425 points, while Ferrari is second on 338. McLaren follows in third with 265 points, while Red Bull has 199.

The Monaco saga has therefore become one of the most unusual post-race controversies of the 2026 season. What initially appeared to be a settled result was changed, restored and then changed again after the FIA’s final appeal ruling.

With the championship entering another important phase of the season, every point could prove significant. Gasly and Alpine will now have to move forward without the nine points they briefly regained, while Hadjar and Red Bull can celebrate the restoration of their Monaco podium result.

The latest ruling also serves as a reminder that Formula 1 results can remain subject to sporting and legal challenges well beyond the chequered flag.
