Adrian Newey has played down speculation linking former Red Bull boss Christian Horner with a move to Aston Martin, saying he has no knowledge of the reports.
The Formula 1 design icon, who now serves as Aston Martin’s managing technical partner and team principal, admitted the team has endured a challenging start to the 2026 campaign, scoring just one point from the opening 10 races.
Newey and Horner formed one of Formula 1’s most successful partnerships during their time together at Red Bull from 2006 until Newey’s departure in 2024. Following Horner’s exit from Red Bull in 2025, he has been heavily linked with several teams, including Aston Martin.
Asked during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend whether Horner could join Aston Martin, Newey dismissed the speculation.
“I’ve heard the rumours about Christian, but I honestly don’t know anything about them,” he said. “We’re very happy with the senior management team we have in place. There may be a few small changes, but overall we’re confident in the people currently leading Aston Martin.”
Newey’s remarks suggest there are no immediate plans for a reunion with Horner, while underlining his belief in the team’s existing leadership structure.
