Kimi Antonelli strengthened his position at the top of the 2026 Formula 1 championship with a stunning victory at the Italian Grand Prix, while Ferrari endured a nightmare home race at Monza.
The 20-year-old Italian delivered a remarkable comeback drive after starting the race from 19th on the grid. Antonelli steadily worked his way through the field before passing Mercedes team-mate George Russell on Lap 50 of 53 to secure an impressive win at the famous “Temple of Speed.”
It was a day to forget for Ferrari. Charles Leclerc suffered a major crash on Lap 3 that brought his race to an early end, while Lewis Hamilton could manage only sixth place.
Max Verstappen produced a strong performance for Red Bull to finish third and complete the podium. McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri followed in fourth and fifth respectively.
Hamilton finished sixth, ahead of Alpine’s Pierre Gasly, who had stunned the paddock by taking pole position. Racing Bulls youngster Arvid Lindblad came home eighth, while Gasly’s team-mate Franco Colapinto secured ninth. Yuki Tsunoda took the final championship point in 10th.
