Formula 1 returns to qualifying action at the historic Monza circuit on Saturday as drivers prepare to battle for pole position ahead of the 2026 Italian Grand Prix.
The qualifying session for this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM UK time on Saturday, September 5, with the action getting underway at 4:00 PM local time in Italy.
The session will determine the starting order for Sunday’s 2026 Italian Grand Prix, with drivers expected to fight for every fraction of a second around Monza’s famous high-speed layout.
Friday’s running provided an early indication of the competitive picture, with Ferrari showing strong pace at its home race. Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc both appeared competitive during Friday’s sessions, giving the Italian team confidence heading into qualifying.
However, Ferrari will face strong competition from the likes of Mercedes, McLaren and Red Bull as the leading teams attempt to secure the front rows of the grid.
The qualifying format will follow the traditional three-part structure, with Q1, Q2 and Q3 determining which drivers progress and ultimately who takes pole position.
