Monaco GP Result Changed Again as Pierre Gasly Loses Podium to…

The final result of the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix has been changed once again, with Pierre Gasly officially losing his third-place finish after the FIA Court of Appeal reinstated his penalties.

Gasly originally crossed the finish line in third for Alpine at Monaco in June, behind race winner Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton. However, two five-second penalties for exceeding the pit-lane speed limit dropped him to seventh in the post-race classification.

That decision was later overturned after Alpine successfully exercised its right of review, temporarily restoring Gasly to the podium and pushing Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar down to fourth.

McLaren and Red Bull challenged that decision, taking the matter to the FIA International Court of Appeal. The court has now ruled in their favour, meaning Gasly’s penalties stand and the original race classification has been restored.

Hadjar Gets His Podium Back

The latest ruling means Isack Hadjar is officially back in third place, securing the final podium position behind Antonelli and Hamilton.

Gasly, meanwhile, drops back to seventh.

The remaining finishers were Gabriel Bortoleto in 11th, George Russell 12th, Nico Hulkenberg 13th, Franco Colapinto 14th and Sergio Perez 15th. Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc, Lance Stroll, Lando Norris, Oliver Bearman, Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen all recorded DNFs.

Alpine Disappointed by FIA Decision

Alpine has expressed frustration with the latest ruling, insisting that Gasly did not actually exceed the pit-lane speed limit during the race.

The team said it disagreed with the decision but would respect the judgment handed down by the FIA International Court of Appeal.

Alpine also stressed that the ruling would not affect its determination to improve its performance and remain competitive in the championship.

FIA to Review Timing System

Gasly’s penalties had already sparked questions about the pit-lane timing system used during the Monaco race.

The FIA has now confirmed that it will review the methodology and operation of the current Formula 1 timing system, along with aspects of its judicial and appeal procedures.

The governing body also emphasized its support for the independence of race stewards while noting that the International Court of Appeal has access to additional legal expertise and evidence when reviewing cases.

Championship Standings Updated

The reversal has also affected the championship picture.

Kimi Antonelli remains firmly at the top of the Drivers’ Championship with 242 points, followed by Mercedes teammate George Russell and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton, both on 183.

Lando Norris sits fourth on 159 points, ahead of Charles Leclerc on 155. Max Verstappen is sixth with 112, while Oscar Piastri has 106.

Hadjar’s restored podium lifts him to 71 points in eighth, while Gasly remains 10th on 35 points.

Updated Constructors’ Championship

Mercedes leads the teams’ standings with 425 points, followed by Ferrari on 338 and McLaren on 265.

Red Bull sits fourth with 199 points, while Racing Bulls has 70 and Alpine 54.

With the Monaco result now officially settled, attention turns back to the 2026 championship battle as Formula 1 heads into another crucial phase of the season.
