Just in: Max Verstappen Battles Shock illness at Dutch GP as F1 Star deliver health update…Read more

Max Verstappen has revealed that he has been dealing with illness throughout the Dutch Grand Prix weekend, adding another challenge to a difficult home event for the Red Bull driver.
The four-time world champion reportedly described his condition as flu-like, although there is no indication that he is suffering from a serious medical problem. Despite feeling unwell, Verstappen continued with his full schedule at Zandvoort as he attempted to deliver a strong performance in front of his home crowd.
His weekend has been made more difficult by Red Bull’s lack of competitiveness. Verstappen finished sixth in Saturday’s Sprint before qualifying seventh for Sunday’s Dutch Grand Prix. George Russell won the Sprint, while Verstappen finished ahead of Lewis Hamilton in seventh.
Qualifying proved particularly challenging, with Verstappen struggling for balance and pace as Lando Norris secured pole position for McLaren. George Russell and Kimi Antonelli completed the front three, leaving Verstappen facing a difficult task from seventh on the grid.
The timing is especially significant for Verstappen, who recently committed his long-term future to Red Bull by signing an extension that will keep him with the team until the end of the 2030 season.
With his physical condition not at its best and Red Bull still struggling to match McLaren and Mercedes, Verstappen faces a major challenge in Sunday’s race.
Nevertheless, the Dutchman will be hoping to overcome both obstacles and produce a strong result in what is expected to be the final Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort for the foreseeable future.
For Verstappen, a strong home-race performance would provide a much-needed boost after a difficult weekend both on and off the track.
