Pierre Gasly has been officially promoted to the Monaco Grand Prix podium after the FIA overturned the penalties that initially dropped the Alpine driver from third to seventh.

Gasly had received two five-second penalties during the Monaco race for pit-lane speeding, costing him what would have been a memorable podium finish. Alpine subsequently appealed the decision, prompting the FIA to review the case.

Following the review, the FIA cancelled both penalties, restoring Gasly’s original third-place result. The decision also reshaped the final classification, with Isack Hadjar losing the podium position he had initially inherited.

The ruling represents a significant turnaround for Gasly, who had maintained that the penalties were unfair. Alpine’s successful appeal has also highlighted the importance of the FIA’s review process when new evidence or arguments are presented.

Gasly’s restored podium adds another dramatic chapter to an already eventful 2026 season, while the FIA’s decision is likely to fuel further discussion about consistency in applying penalties across Formula 1.
