JUST IN: Ferrari F1 Confirms Lewis Hamilton Replacement at Dutch Grand Prix Following…read more

Ferrari has reportedly confirmed that Lewis Hamilton will be replaced for part of the Dutch Grand Prix weekend, sparking fresh attention around the seven-time Formula 1 world champion ahead of the sport’s return to Zandvoort.

However, the situation is not a permanent driver change. Hamilton remains Ferrari’s race driver and is expected to continue his campaign for the 2026 Formula 1 world championship. The replacement relates to a practice-session requirement rather than Ferrari removing him from the Dutch Grand Prix itself.

The 2026 Dutch Grand Prix takes place at Zandvoort from August 21–23 and marks Round 12 of the championship. Formula 1’s official preview lists the event as the opening race after the summer break.

Ferrari has used its young-driver programme during the 2026 season to meet Formula 1’s rookie practice requirements. Hamilton has already been replaced during a practice session this year, with Ferrari confirming Arthur Leclerc, Charles Leclerc’s younger brother, as his substitute for FP1 at Abu Dhabi. Ferrari also handed Dino Beganovic a practice opportunity at Barcelona.

The latest headline has therefore generated speculation that another Ferrari junior could receive an opportunity at Zandvoort. But there is currently no indication that Hamilton has been dropped from the actual Dutch Grand Prix race.

Hamilton heads into the weekend in a much stronger position than he was during his difficult first season with Ferrari. The British driver has enjoyed a significant resurgence in 2026, including victories at Barcelona and Silverstone, and currently sits second in the championship standings, 50 points behind Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli.

The Dutch Grand Prix could consequently be an important weekend for Hamilton’s title ambitions. With the championship battle tightening, every point will matter during the second half of the season.

Ferrari will also be hoping its SF-26 continues to deliver competitive performance after showing genuine race-winning pace before the summer break.

For now, fans should treat headlines suggesting that Hamilton has been permanently replaced with caution. The available evidence points toward a temporary practice-session substitution rather than a change to Ferrari’s race lineup.

Hamilton remains central to Ferrari’s 2026 championship campaign, and all eyes will be on Zandvoort to see whether the 41-year-old can return from the summer break with another strong performance.
