Steven Tyler’s Vocal Injury Forces Aerosmith Into Retirement From Touring

 

After more than five decades of electrifying performances, iconic rock band Aerosmith has announced its retirement from touring, citing a devastating vocal injury suffered by lead singer Steven Tyler.

 

In a heartfelt statement released in August 2024, the band revealed that Tyler sustained permanent damage to his vocal cords during a performance in September 2023 as part of their “Peace Out: The Farewell Tour.” Despite months of medical treatment and rehabilitation, doctors concluded that Tyler would be unable to safely return to the stage.

 

“This is not the way we wanted to say goodbye,” Aerosmith said in the statement. “But Steven’s health must come first. It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours.”

 

Tyler, known for his soaring vocals and charismatic stage presence, was the voice behind some of rock’s most enduring hits, including “Dream On,” “Walk This Way,” and “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.” His energy and flamboyant style helped define Aerosmith as one of the greatest American rock bands of all time.
