Lewis Hamilton Crashes at Spanish Grand Prix as Red Flag Stops Running… See Details

Lewis Hamilton’s Spanish Grand Prix preparation took a turn for the worse on Saturday when he crashed during final practice, bringing out a red flag and interrupting running at the new Madring circuit.

Halfway through the session, the Ferrari star went straight on at El Parque and broke off his front wing. The incident left Hamilton with significant damage as he attempted to recover his car.

The angle of the crash meant Hamilton was able to reverse out and initially drive away from the scene. However, with the damaged front wing underneath his Ferrari, his race engineer instructed him to stop.

Hamilton initially continued driving in an attempt to make it back to the pits, but he was eventually forced to stop trackside.

The incident brought out the red flag and halted the session while marshals dealt with the stranded Ferrari.

The crash is an unwanted setback for Hamilton ahead of qualifying, with Ferrari now facing a race against time to assess and repair the car before the crucial battle for pole position.
