šŸ’” SAD NEWS: JUST 30 MINUTES AGO, THE ENTIRE MERCEDES TEAM SENT THEIR DEEPEST CONDOLENCES TO KIMI ANTONELLI AFTER RE…

The dramatic headline circulating online has sparked concern among Formula 1 fans, but the latest reliable reports do not support the suggestion that Kimi Antonelli has suffered a tragedy or that Mercedes has issued condolences over a serious incident involving him.

In fact, the latest information from the Spanish Grand Prix weekend paints a very different picture.

Kimi Antonelli is currently competing for Mercedes at the brand-new Madring circuit in Madrid, where Formula 1 is holding the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend. The 20-year-old Italian arrived in Spain as the 2026 championship leader, carrying a 66-point advantage over his Mercedes teammate George Russell.

Antonelli has also been enjoying arguably the strongest period of his young Formula 1 career. Just days ago, he produced one of the most remarkable drives of the season at Monza, recovering from 19th on the grid to win the Italian Grand Prix in front of his home crowd.

That victory was particularly significant because Antonelli became the first Italian driver to win the Italian Grand Prix since Ludovico Scarfiotti achieved the feat in 1966. Mercedes also secured a one-two finish, with Russell coming home second.

The Monza victory represented an extraordinary turnaround for Antonelli. Two years earlier, during his first Formula 1 practice appearance at the same circuit, he suffered a major crash early in the session. His return to Monza this year therefore carried considerable emotional significance, and his victory was described by Formula 1 as a full-circle moment.

After the race, Antonelli described the victory as the ā€œbest day of my lifeā€, explaining how much the result meant to him and his supporters.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has also been extremely complimentary about the young Italian. Following the Monza triumph, Wolff praised Antonelli’s development and described his rapid improvement as extraordinary. The Mercedes boss has repeatedly emphasized how quickly the driver has matured since entering Formula 1.

And Antonelli’s momentum has continued into Spain.

During Friday’s second practice session at the new Madrid circuit, Antonelli recorded the fastest time, finishing ahead of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. His performance underlined that his Monza victory was not simply a one-off result.

The new Madring circuit has already proved challenging for the drivers. The track is technically demanding and leaves relatively little room for mistakes. Several drivers have complained over traffic during the opening sessions, while Racing Bulls rookie Arvid Lindblad suffered a crash that brought out a red flag during FP2.

Despite those difficulties, Antonelli remained at the front of the field.

The latest reports therefore give no credible indication that Mercedes has sent condolences to Antonelli because of a tragedy involving him. The wording in the image appears to be an unverified social-media-style headline designed to create shock and attract attention.

For fans following the 2026 championship, the genuine story is actually much more positive: Antonelli is healthy, competing, leading the championship and coming off a historic home victory.

His current advantage over Russell gives him an important cushion as the season continues, while Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc are also part of the championship picture after Ferrari’s strong showing in Friday practice.

With qualifying and the race still ahead at Madrid, the attention is now firmly on whether Antonelli can convert his impressive practice pace into another major result.

For Mercedes, the priority is clear: keep Antonelli and Russell scoring heavily while protecting their position at the top of both championships.

So, despite the alarming wording of the viral post, there is currently no reliable evidence of the ā€œsad newsā€ or condolence message suggested in the image. The verified Formula 1 news surrounding Antonelli is instead about his remarkable Monza victory, his championship lead and his strong start to the Spanish Grand Prix weekend.
