Chelsea have reportedly opened negotiations with AS Monaco over a potential move for midfielder Lamine Camara as uncertainty continues to surround Enzo Fernandez’s future at Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old Senegal international has emerged as one of Chelsea’s leading options should Fernandez leave the club, with reports indicating that discussions between Chelsea and Monaco are already underway. A fee in the region of €60 million has been discussed, although the exact final price and terms have not been agreed.

The situation has developed rapidly because of growing interest from Manchester City in Fernandez. Chelsea are understood to be preparing for the possibility of losing the Argentine midfielder rather than waiting until the final stages of the transfer window before identifying a replacement.

Camara is not considered a direct replica of Fernandez.
