BREAKING: Lewis Hamilton Strikes Gold as $9bn Valuation Emerges After F1 Team Boss’s Record S… See details 👇

Lewis Hamilton is enjoying another major win away from the Formula 1 circuit, with his investment in the Denver Broncos becoming significantly more valuable as NFL franchise prices continue to explode.

The seven-time world champion was part of the investment group that purchased the Denver Broncos in 2022 for a then-record $4.65 billion. Hamilton is only a minority investor, but the value of that investment has risen dramatically in the years since.

According to the latest valuation figures reported by GPFans from Sportico, the Broncos are now valued at approximately $9.18 billion — a staggering 40 percent increase in one year and almost double the price paid by the ownership group in 2022.

That surge means Hamilton’s decision to enter the NFL ownership group has proved to be a remarkably well-timed business move. The Broncos investment came as the value of American sports franchises was entering another period of rapid growth, driven in large part by television revenues and the expanding commercial power of the NFL.

Record sale puts Hamilton’s investment in the spotlight

The latest development came after Los Angeles Lakers owner Mark Walter, whose TWG group is also connected to the Cadillac F1 project, reportedly agreed to sell the NBA franchise for $12.5 billion.

Walter had acquired the Lakers for around $10 billion less than a year earlier, meaning the reported sale represents roughly a 25 percent increase in value in only ten months.

The deal has further highlighted just how aggressively the value of major American sports franchises is rising.

The Denver Broncos are now ranked 15th among NFL teams in Sportico’s 2026 valuation list, at $9.18 billion. The Dallas Cowboys lead the league at $15.5 billion, while the Los Angeles Rams are valued at $12.7 billion.

Hamilton’s timing could prove even more valuable

The biggest reason for optimism is that NFL franchise valuations could continue climbing.

The league’s enormous broadcasting agreements have created a powerful financial foundation. The NFL signed 11-year media agreements worth a reported $111 billion in 2021, covering networks and platforms including CBS, FOX, Amazon and ESPN.

There is also another important benchmark. The Seattle Seahawks were recently sold for approximately $9.612 billion, setting a new record for an NFL franchise sale and reinforcing the argument that valuations around the $10 billion mark are becoming increasingly realistic.

For Hamilton, that creates an intriguing situation. His original investment has benefited from the dramatic growth in American sports-team valuations, while his Formula 1 career continues to provide him with enormous global visibility.

Hamilton’s F1 fortunes are also changing

The financial story arrives during a significant period in Hamilton’s Ferrari career.

After a difficult first season with the Scuderia, Hamilton has enjoyed a much stronger 2026 campaign and has emerged as a genuine championship contender. The latest GPFans report places him second in the championship, behind Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli.

Ferrari are also continuing their development push as they attempt to close the gap to Mercedes. That means Hamilton’s sporting and commercial stories are moving in the same direction: his value remains extremely high both inside and outside Formula 1.

The bigger picture

The headline “$9bn valuation” does not mean Hamilton himself is worth $9 billion. It refers to the current estimated value of the Denver Broncos, in which Hamilton owns a minority stake.

Nevertheless, the rise is significant because the value of his investment has increased substantially since he joined the ownership group.

With NFL franchises continuing to attract enormous valuations and Hamilton still one of the world’s most recognisable sports stars, his decision to invest in the Broncos increasingly looks like one of the smartest moves of his business career.

The truth: Hamilton’s biggest victory in this story is not that he suddenly became a billionaire from the Broncos. It is that he entered the investment at the right time — and the asset has nearly doubled in value while the wider American sports market continues to surge.
