Phil Rudd, the longtime drummer of AC/DC, has expressed a strong desire to reunite with the band, despite his absence from recent performances. In a November 2023 interview, Rudd stated, “I look forward to playing with them again in the future… Rock on.”
Rudd’s history with AC/DC has seen its ups and downs. He was sidelined in 2015 due to legal issues, including charges of threatening to kill and drug possession, leading to an eight-month home detention sentence. Despite these challenges, Rudd made a notable return for the recording of the band’s 2020 album Power Up, which marked the return of several classic members and served as a tribute to the late Malcolm Young.
However, Rudd was absent from AC/DC’s 2024–2025 “Power Up” tour, with Matt Laug stepping in on drums. The reasons for Rudd’s absence were not officially disclosed, but his recent comments suggest a continued interest in rejoining the band.
The possibility of Rudd’s return remains uncertain, hinging on decisions by the band’s leadership. Nonetheless, his recent statements indicate that he remains hopeful and ready to contribute to AC/DC’s future endeavors. As fans continue to rally for his comeback, especially following his public support for charitable causes and live guest performances, the door to an official reunion may not be entirely cl
osed.
