After investing heavily in Benjamin Šeško, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo, Manchester United are shifting their attention to the centre of the pitch. Manager Erik ten Hag has been calling for a commanding midfielder, and Valverde fits the profile as a proven Champions League-level performer.
The club had previously considered Carlos Baleba from Brighton, but due to concerns over the price, they have now redirected their efforts toward Valverde.
