An emotional scene unfolded as Oleksandr Zinchenko broke down in tears after being forced off with an injury during Nottingham Forest’s victory over Porto.
The Ukrainian defender, who had been one of Forest’s standout performers on the night, went down clutching his leg midway through the second half. Despite attempts from the medical team to help him continue, Zinchenko was unable to carry on and left the pitch visibly emotional, covering his face as he walked to the bench.
Forest fans gave him a standing ovation, recognizing his effort and passion, while teammates consoled him on the sideline. Reports suggest that early assessments indicate a muscle strain, but the full extent of the injury will be confirmed after scans.
It was a bittersweet night for Forest — a crucial win over Porto, but one overshadowed by the sight of Zinchenko’s tears.
