“Amorim rebuilds Manchester United. Who will leave, and who will return to Old Trafford?”

Fabrizio Romano names four stars who could be let go by Manchester United

Manchester United is reportedly preparing for a major squad overhaul ahead of the summer, with four first‑team players expected to exit. According to Romano, Rashford, Højlund, Sancho and Onana are not part of the club’s long‑term plans.

This move is aimed at reducing the wage bill, potentially saving up to £1 million per week, in order to reinvest in new transfer targets. Among them, the sale of Rashford and Højlund is expected to bring in a significant sum. Barcelona reportedly have a purchase option for Rashford at around €30 million, while Napoli must buy Højlund for €44 million if they qualify for the Champions League.

Regarding Sancho, he is expected to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer once his loan at Aston Villa ends. In Onana’s case, the goalkeeper is on loan at Trabzonspor with no purchase option in the deal, and Manchester United are believed to be looking for a long‑term exit solution for him.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano confirmed the “Red Devils” plan: “André Onana is currently on loan at Trabzonspor. In this case there is no purchase option in the contract. Onana will officially return to Manchester United at the beginning of the summer transfer window. But as far as I know, Manchester United are very happy with Lammens… At this moment, I don’t believe Andre Onana will be part of Manchester United’s plans.”

“Rashford, Højlund, Sancho and Onana are expected to leave Manchester United and are not part of their long‑term plan.”

By successfully off‑loading these names, Manchester United will have additional budget to pursue key targets, including at least two central midfielders, a wing‑back, a centre‑back and a forward.
