Doug Didero is a Canadian-born racing driver well-known for his achievements in Supermodified racing, especially at Oswego Speedway in New York. Born on August 18, 1960, in Hamilton, Ontario, Didero started his racing career in the mid-1980s and quickly made a name for himself in the Supermodified division.

Didero’s rise was marked by significant success at Oswego Speedway. He was named Rookie of the Year in 1984 and went on to win three consecutive track championships from 1994 to 1996. During this period, he also won the prestigious International Classic in 1996, driving for car owner Skip Matczak. This victory was a major highlight, capping off a partnership that had already produced several track titles. Over the years, he collected numerous feature wins, cementing his place as one of the all-time greats at Oswego.

Beyond Supermodified racing, Didero ventured into other forms of motorsports. He competed in three NASCAR Busch Series races in 1991 and 1992, with moderate success. Later, he raced in the Indy Racing League during the 1999–2000 seasons, making six starts and achieving a best finish of 14th at Walt Disney World Speedway.

After stepping away from full-time racing in the early 2000s, Didero made a notable comeback in 2008, winning the Oswego Speedway International Classic again in a car that had never previously raced on that track. He continued racing part-time until retiring at the end of the 2010 season. More recently, his Supermodified operation was purchased by Proud Motorsports in 2022, with driver Camden Proud taking over the No. 3 car in Oswego Speedway events.

Doug Didero’s legacy in Supermodified racing is defined by his technical skill, consistency, and contributions to the sport’s growth and popularity, particularly at Oswego Speedway and within the Canadian racing community.
