Man United aims to snatch Bournemouth’s midfield duo amid Mainoo’s uncertain future

Manchester United are eyeing several quality midfielders ahead of the January transfer window. Alongside some high‑profile names, two less‑talked‑about targets are also part of their plans to strengthen the squad at Old Trafford.

While prominent names such as Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson and Conor Gallagher have been repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford, United’s scouts are said to be keeping a close eye on several other midfield options.

The Red Devils have been watching Bournemouth closely this season—not just because of Antoine Semenyo, a player they are particularly interested in amid reports of a £65m release clause that could be activated in January.

Transfer rumors, news: Man United monitor Adams, Scott from Bournemouth

Manchester United are interested in two Bournemouth midfielders.

Two midfielders, Tyler Adams and Alex Scott, have impressed significantly in data analysis by United’s technical department. Internal sources cite that both have also convinced United’s recruitment scouts with their real‑world performances.

The interest in Adams is backed both by statistical analysis and scouting, and is reinforced by his past relationship with United’s current head of recruitment, Christopher Vivell. Adams enjoyed his best form at RB Leipzig while Vivell was technical director, before Vivell oversaw the midfielder’s transfer to Leeds United.

Meanwhile, Alex Scott entered United’s radar after a very strong showing with the England U21s, where he excelled alongside Elliot Anderson during the summer.

Although Anderson, Adam Wharton, and Carlos Baleba are still highly regarded by Manchester United, Old Trafford remain proactive in exploring other midfield options ahead of what could be a busy 2026 transfer period.

Concerning the situation at Old Trafford, Kobbie Mainoo has been informed that he will not be sold during the January transfer window. The England international has again been the centre of attention after being unused in much of the dramatic 4‑4 draw with Bournemouth, before finally being brought on after more than an hour of play. During that match, Mainoo’s half‑brother, Jordan Mainoo‑Hames, appeared in the stands wearing a shirt with the message “Free Kobbie Mainoo,” which sparked heated discussion on social media.

Napoli are reportedly admirers of Mainoo, while Bayern Munich and several Premier League clubs have also been linked with the possibility of signing him in the winter.
