The FIA has confirmed the official classification for the 2026 Italian Grand Prix following a dramatic race at Monza that saw several incidents placed under investigation after the chequered flag.
Kimi Antonelli secured a sensational home victory for Mercedes after starting from 19th on the grid, producing one of the most remarkable comebacks of the 2026 Formula 1 season. The Italian teenager finished ahead of Mercedes team-mate George Russell, while Max Verstappen completed the podium for Red Bull.
According to the FIA’s official classification, Antonelli won the 53-lap race with Russell finishing 3.857 seconds behind. Verstappen was a further 10.861 seconds behind Russell in third.
The FIA’s official documents show that the stewards continued dealing with several incidents after the race, including investigations involving Sergio Perez, Yuki Tsunoda, George Russell and other drivers. The federation also published a post-race scrutineering document and a provisional race classification.
However, despite reports circulating about a possible late disqualification, the FIA’s published Italian Grand Prix result does not currently show a post-race disqualification that changes the top positions. Therefore, Antonelli remains the official winner based on the latest FIA classification available.
